Entries invited for 45th Gibraltar International Art Competition

What do you need to know – and could you enter?

Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, is inviting entries into the competition, with accepted artworks set to be exhibited at the Gustavo Bacarisas Galleries from 7th to 17th November 2018.

Anyone who will be at least 16 years of age as of 5th November 2018 is eligible to enter, and is permitted to submit a maximum of two paintings and two sculptures for consideration. Artworks submitted must be original and not previously entered into any competitions.

A host of alluring prizes on offer

There is much for artists to compete for when they enter their works into the competition, not least a first-prize award of £4,000 for the artist who wins the Gustavo Bacarisas Prize.

The second prize, the Jacobo Azagury Prize, is worth £2,000, while other prizes on offer include the third-prize Leni Mifsud Prize, which comes with a £1,500 award, as well as the £1,000 Rudesindo Mannia Prize for the best Gibraltar-themed artwork to be submitted.

Finally, for young artists – defined as those aged between 16 and 24 – a £1,000 Ministry of Culture Prize is also up for grabs.

The Gibraltar International Art Competition provides novice and experienced artists alike, good reason to participate in this exciting event. Entries into the 45th Gibraltar International Art Competition must be handed in at the Gustavo Bacarisas Galleries between Monday 22nd and Friday 26th October, from 3pm to 7pm.
